Cancer Care as individual as you are.

Cancer Patient Hugging DoctorYou may have noticed “personalized medicine” or “personalized care” is often used when describing a medical institution’s targeted approach to cancer care treatment.

Unfortunately, in today’s institutional healthcare system we too often we see healthcare services falling short of this promise.

  • How many times have you or a loved one had to call to get a doctor?
  • How many times, instead of seeing a doctor, were you shuffled off to a nurse practitioner?
  • How many times have you tried to get to the hospital, and the doctor tries to keep you at home?
  • How many times have you been at a doctor’s office, and the doctor is too busy to spend any time with you or your loved one?

Time and attention for you and your loved one.

At Nashville Oncology Associates, we see each one individually with the care, compassion and understanding knowing all the anxiety and fear associated with coming to a cancer specialist. You get personalized, hands-on, and full-attention care, and we don’t try to shuttle you off once treatment is completed to another care personnel in the office. We give you our undivided attention and the time you need, whether it’s a 5-minute check-in visit or an hour consultation. That’s the personalized care we want to extend to every individual that walks in our door.

Targeted therapies are personalized care.

Personalized cancer care at Nashville Oncology also means getting information that personalizes your particular tumor to what it’s sensitive to, and what it would be more effectively treated with.

We treat each individual’s cancer as a unique case; not just a lung cancer or colon cancer. Each tumor responds differently to various interventions, and with access to advanced technological options and clinical expertise, we have a better idea of what is going on in the tumor and in the tumor environment.

In many cases, this will involve molecular profile paneling on tumor cells, because we can get information that personalizes your tumor to what it’s most sensitive to, and what it would be more effectively treated with. We can then tailor a regimen based on the results of your profile for a more effective and potentially less toxic regimen than a conventional, generic lung cancer regimen.

Personalized cancer care means better outcomes.

We develop and utilize targeted therapies in individuals with cancers that had very few effective treatment options in the past. We take on the most challenging cases, for example, a young patient with an aggressive malignancy or an elderly patient with a curable disease but has multiple other medical issues. These two cases require consideration for molecular testing, supportive measures, and when palliative management is the best option.

Most importantly, we listen to you and your loved one and do our best to make sure you understand your clinical situation. We want you to have a complete understanding of your treatment options, and a better idea of what to expect along the treatment course.

Your Nashville Oncologist doctor is there every step of the way.

Our doctors’ involvement does not stop once the treatment regimen begins. Your doctor is involved throughout your treatment, and commonly will go in and check on you, whether they had a scheduled visit or not, to make sure everything is going smoothly.
